Wildcat District Student Nutrition Assistant

Plan and provide nutrition education to individuals and families who receive or are eligible to receive food assistance.

About this Role

The Extension Nutrition Program, within K-State Research and Extension, is currently seeking a part-time SNAP-Ed Nutrition Assistant. Nutrition assistants serve to meet the Kansas Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) mission of empowering low-income Kansans using evidence-based strategies to achieve healthy lives and reduce health disparities.

Specific strategies include direct education in various settings, community-based projects to address policy, system or environmental changes and public health approaches to help children, families and adults improve dietary quality and food resource management skills and increase physical activity.

This position reports to the Wildcat District EFNEP/SNAP-Ed extension agent.

 

Location and travel

This position will serve K-State Research and Extension’s Wildcat District, which has offices in Altamont, Fredonia, Girard, Independence, and Pittsburg. The primary office location will be in Pittsburg, KS.

Regular travel within the district is required.

Hours and pay

This position will require approximately 18 hours per week and will be paid $15.00 per hour.

Start date

May 28, 2024. A later start date can be negotiated.
