K-State Research and Extension has a diverse program in animal science that includes research in areas such as genetics, health, nutrition, management, reproduction and production efficiency for several species including beef, dairy, equine, poultry, sheep, meat goat and swine.

The livestock Extension program directly addresses the state’s greatest challenges including water and natural resources, global and local food systems and rural and community vitality. Our Extension specialists help Kansas producers improve current practices by applying research in their operation, to ensure safe food production.

We also understand the importance of developing the next generation of leaders, and provide a variety of hands-on learning opportunities through our youth livestock programs.
