Chrysanthemum

Scientific Name: Chrysanthemum x morifolium

Category: Flowers and Foliages

Description:
Chrysanthemum or "mums" are perennial plants that bloom in the fall. The onset of chrysanthemum flower buds is controlled by day length. Flower buds will not appear until nights become longer/days become shorter. There are many different types of chrysanthemum flowers including cushion, daisy, standard or "football", spider, spoon, and many others. Chrysanthemum flowers may be white, cream, yellow, lime green, bronze, rust, maroon, lavender or purple. Besides being used as a landscape plant, chrysanthemums are often sold as potted, flowering gift plants or as cut flowers.
