Osage Orange

Scientific Name: Maclura pomifera

Category: Ornamentals

Description:
The Osage Orange is also called hedge, hedge apple or bois d'arc. It is a large tree. Some trees have thorns. The leaves are alternative and simple with a smooth margin. It is dioecious with separate male and female plants. The fruit is a large composite fruit sometimes called a hedge ball or hedge apple.
