Caring for your live Christmas tree

Live Christmas trees provide a pleasant fragrance during the holiday season that artificial trees cannot duplicate.

In this video, K-State Research and Extension forester and extension specialist Charles Barden outlines important steps to pick a great tree, care for it, and remain safe during the holidays.

“When you’re looking for a Christmas tree, you want to find one that seems quite heavy for it’s size. That means it still has lots of moisture content inside the trunk itself.”

Other tips include what to do before leaving the Christmas tree lot, selecting a tree stand, where to locate your tree at home and what to do with the tree after the holiday season is over.
